Terms of Use

Assembly, by the Young People's Alliance · Version 2026-08-26

Agreeing to these terms

Assembly is the members' platform of the Young People's Alliance (“YPA”, “we”). By creating an account or continuing to use Assembly, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, do not use Assembly.

You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. Assembly is built for students and young adults.

Your account

Accounts are personal and are issued by invitation. Keep your password to yourself and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us if you think someone else has got into it.

The information you give us should be accurate — particularly your name and campus, which other members see, and the details you give Data Reclaim, which we send to data brokers on your behalf.

What you may not post

Assembly carries content written by members. You are responsible for what you post, and by posting you confirm it is yours to share.

There is no tolerance for:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeting anyone individually
  • Hateful content, including anything attacking people over race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age
  • Sexually explicit material, and anything sexualising a minor whatsoever
  • Violence, or encouraging people to hurt themselves or others
  • Other people's private information — addresses, phone numbers, documents — shared without their permission
  • Spam, scams, deliberate misinformation, or impersonating someone else
  • Anything illegal, or infringing someone else's copyright or trademark

This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. Content that is obviously objectionable is not permitted merely because it is not itemised above.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

Every post carries a report control. Reporting a post flags it for review straight away and removes it from the feed while a member of staff looks at it.

You can also block another member from the menu on any of their posts. Blocking hides that person's posts and comments from you across Assembly. You can undo it at any time from your account settings.

We remove content that breaks these rules and we suspend or delete accounts that keep breaking them, without being obliged to warn you first. We may act on serious cases — threats of violence, or anything involving a minor — by contacting the authorities.

To report something urgent, or anything you would rather not flag in the app, email hannah@youngpeoplesalliance.org.

Your content

What you post stays yours. You give us permission to display and distribute it inside Assembly so the product can work — showing your post in the feed, in notifications, and to the communities you posted it to. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already sent in notifications.

Membership and benefits

Some benefits require a paid membership. Paid memberships are bought and managed on the Young People's Alliance website, not in the app.

Discounts and offers listed in Assembly are provided by other companies on their own terms. We surface them; we do not control them, and they can change or end without notice from us.

Data Reclaim files removal requests with data brokers for you. We will keep filing and following them up, but we cannot guarantee any particular broker complies, or that your information does not reappear later.

Ending your account

You can delete your account whenever you like, from My Account in the app or on the web. This is immediate and cannot be undone. What is removed, and the two things that survive it, are set out in our Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where keeping it open puts other members at risk.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms at any time, without notice to you. The current version always lives at this address, with its version marked at the top.

Continuing to use Assembly after a change means you accept the changed terms. If you do not accept them, stop using Assembly and delete your account.

No warranty, and limits on our liability

Assembly is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that anything posted by another member is accurate.

To the fullest extent the law allows, YPA is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Assembly. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
